LG Wins Best Hip Hop Album for “The Lyrical Groove EP” @ SDMA’s

LG Wins at SDMA

It was a fall summer night, the first Monday in October 2014 and San Diego musicians, artists and appreciators all gathered under a moon and stars at Humphreys by the Bay. A year earlier the Lyrical Groove took home the SD Music Award for Best Hip Hop Artist. Now, a year later we took home the SDMA for Best Hip Hop Album.

This was truly a historic occasion for us. We have been together for about 4 years now and the recognition couldn’t have come at a better time. This has been a trying year in some regards. Many different transitions have taken place. Professional careers, family, relationships, school. No one is immune to the challenges life can bring nor the myriad of emotions of wanting to give up, feel depressed, or isolate at times. There is always a need for balance. When you think of how challenging it can be for bands to stay together due to all the obstacles life can bring, moments like this make it sweeter. Especially when you have friends and family in the mist. The supporters who have stood on the sideline to encourage us, and those who intermittently step in and provide a helping hand from time to time have no idea how priceless they have been for us. We are blessed but we aren’t satisfied but we have more work to do and further to go. Thanks Groovers, the love is so real!!!!
